The Visual 911+ mobile application offers users a practical means of communicating their general GPS location and alert status to up to three designated contacts via email, which can be utilized before, during, or after an emergency event. Originating from the initial “Disaster ID” concept, the app was developed to assist individuals who find themselves in the aftermath of natural disasters such as hurricanes or tornadoes. It enables users to visually signal their location, current condition, and group affiliation to neighbors and first responders.

Upon installation, users are prompted to input their name, phone number, and up to three email addresses of trusted contacts ("lifelines"). Activation of the app changes the display to a specific Disaster ID color scheme and automatically transmits the user’s approximate GPS coordinates along with an alert message to the designated contacts. This process ensures that the user's needs are communicated promptly and clearly.

The intended functionality allows recipients to quickly ascertain the user’s location and status—either through the received email or by observing the illuminated visual signal on the device's screen. First responders and emergency contacts can then focus their efforts accordingly, utilizing this information to facilitate assistance or coordinate further aid efforts.
